Bracklesham Carvan and Boat Club is a members only, private recreational park, known for its owner-occupied static holiday homes and boat mooring facilities. The Club contacted Outdoor Play UK in October 2024 as they wanted to revitalise the play area for their younger visitors for the upcoming season.

Following a site visit and consultation with the Site Manager, it was instantly clear that our ability to design and build custom equipment could meet and exceed the client’s brief. Through a detailed design process and with input from the client, our talented team were able to create a bespoke climbing frame, featuring a lighthouse and ship to reflect the maritime location of this lovely park.

The bespoke climbing frame features multiple towers constructed from durable, pressure treated timber for longevity and safety. The eye-catching red-and-white lighthouse structure and pirate ship includes details of sails and a ships wheel to inspire imaginative play.

We included suspended rope bridges and walkways to promote balance and coordination with multiple access points for active, full-body engagement, two, smooth plastic slides provide a safe and exciting return to the ground.

The are many benefits to this new equipment, the theme help children create adventures, encouraging storytelling and creativity. The variety of climbing and balancing builds physical strength and coordination and develops gross motor skills, agility, and muscle strength.

The layout with interconnected platforms, allows multiple children to play together, promoting teamwork and social skills.

To further enhance the play area, we manufactured and installed a new mini basket swing, constructed from chunky glulam timber posts, this item allows children of all abilities to play together and provides continuation to the older children’s play area where as part of the same project, we installed a 2.4m high nest swing to improve the play value for older visitors to the park.

To complete the play area and compliment the theme, the whole of the existing surface was overlaid with a blue and black fleck wet pour to retain a low maintenance surface that will be in use for many years.
