Parks Make Places Day 2025
)
From coastal escapes to countryside retreats, holiday parks have long been enjoyed by families across the UK. But beyond providing a place to relax and unwind, these parks play a far greater role in our communities, and now is the time to recognised just how vital they are.
The Parks Make Places campaign is shining a well-deserved spotlight on the positive impact of holiday and residential parks across the country. This national initiative celebrates everything parks contribute to local life, from supporting housing and employment to leading the way on sustainability.
For many families, a holiday park is not just a holiday, it’s a place where communities are built and lifelong memories are made. These parks offer affordable, accessible getaways that bring people together, create new friendships, and offer safe and inclusive spaces for every generation.
This campaign aims to highlight the things going on behind the scenes that many people don’t see. Holiday parks input a staggering £12.2 billion annually into the UK visitor economy. This creates jobs, helps local businesses thrive and encourages a ripple effect down to the rural economy, helping keep their communities alive and well.
The impact of parks goes well beyond tourism. Residential parks help address the UK’s housing challenges by offering high-quality, single-storey homes that are both accessible and affordable which is particularly important in areas where housing is in short supply.
Parks also underpin the local services that many rural communities rely on. From helping fund transport links to supporting post offices, cafes, shops, and even hosting social events, they are often the community hub that brings rural life together.
As awareness of climate change grows, many parks are stepping up to lead the way. They’re investing in carbon reduction, flood resilience, biodiversity, and low-impact infrastructure, creating a vision for the long-term and ensuring that our green spaces and rural economies can thrive for generations to come.
